breakfast: yogurt and fruit
lunch: Lean Cuisine broccoli and potatoes in cheddar sauce
dinner: hamburger steak, lean ground beef and no gravy, green beans, black-eye peas
snacks: 2 rice cakes and an apple
exercise: 45 minutes of walking at a moderate pace
i asked you to ask questions if you wanted to and i've had one: why don't i exercise more? or at least do some more strenuous forms of exercise? it's pretty simple actually. i'm so out of shape it's not funny. i haven't exercised or done any kind of activity in years. walking up a flight or two of stairs has me huffing and puffing like you wouldn't believe. i know exercise is going to be the key to my weight loss, but right now, i am exercising as much as my body can handle. i know using the Wii Fit, Pilates, and walking may seem like nothing to some fitness buffs, but right now it is all my body can handle. you wouldn't believe how sore i am. or how much i hurt crawling out of bed in the mornings.
i can feel myself getting stronger. i don't get as tired when working out now. i am certainly not as out of breath. before i was having to take a breather with exercising for just 30 minutes. now i can exercise the whole 30 minutes without stopping. i consider that progress. maybe someday i'll run marathons, but right now i can only do what my body will let me.
But it sounds like you're on a great track!
I have been doing some of those cliche things. If I go to the grocery, I've been parking at the
very end. Things like that. I don't dread working out like I did, so that's gotta be progress.
but he's getting fitter!
I'm more a fan of everyday activities than actual "working out" so I wouldn't feel guilty if your limit is 30mins of pilates a day (that is more than most do, myself included, so don't beat yourself up over it).
If you feel your exercise is minor -- or feel you are being criticized for as much -- you can try little things like the ever so cliche "take the stairs" routine. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but you can cut corners: if you work on something ridiculous like the 15th floor, just take the elevator to the 12th floor THEN walk the rest. If you take the bus, get off one or two stops early, THEN walk the rest of the way.
You can probably fit in a lot more walking, which is by far the healthiest thing to do. Most of the benefits are based on the distance you travel, rather than how strenuous you work your body.
I think you're doing great!
